Music has always been a source of healing and transformation. In my mind, nothing is more sacred than each individual's right to be free from bodily assault. I am honored by the opportunity to raise my musical voice for the cause of bodily integrity. I hope and pray to live to see the day when the right of each individual to have self-determination over all of their body parts, both private and public parts, will be recognized as a fundamental human right. While I believe in honoring many of the ways of my Jewish ancestors, circumcision is one thing that I never have and never will believe in. One of the wisest spiritual teachings came from Hillel, "What is hateful to you, do not do unto others." In the spirit of
treating others the way we would want to be treated, I I've written two songs about genital integrity: "The Joy of Brit Shalom" (song for an intact Jewish baby naming ceremony) "Clitoral Energy" (song about female genital integrity) Some of my other songs are: "Childhood Lesson" (inspirational song for children and former children who are/were picked on at school) (vocal/piano or choir/piano) "Temp Agency Blues" (vocal/piano/saxophone or choir/piano/saxophone) "Transformation" (string quartet and piano, inspired by the people who joined hands on 9/11 and reached out to help each other) "Hymn of Unity With Diversity" (choir and piano) "We Can't Settle
Here - A View of the Earth From Outer Space" "The Light After the Blues" (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, piano) "Reach Beyond" (reach beyond competition to compassion) (women's choir, winds, piano) "A Kitten's World" (strings and piano, inspired by my four legged friends).
