You Can Help!

So you've educated yourself about infant circumcision and the importance of securing the right of genital integrity to all human beings. Now what? What can you  do to help?

Educate! Education is the key to ending non-therapeutic genital alterations. Because of the tireless educational efforts by groups such as NOCIRC, the male infant circumcision rate in the U.S. has dropped 11% in just 5 years.

Don't be afraid to talk about circumcision. Remember that neonatal circumcision is not medically necessary, that no national health organization in the world recommends it and that babies cannot defend themselves against those who do not know that facts. Many people, including celebrities, fear they will offend some people if they provide them with information about circumcision. The fact is that most people welcome factual circumcision information and many parents, after learning the facts about infant circumcision too late, regret having their sons circumcised. It is also a fact that many parents, including Jewish parents, are deciding against circumcision for their sons. Many Jewish parents are choosing to have an Alternative Bris Ceremony (naming ceremony without the ritual circumcision) for their sons in place of a traditional Bris Milah.

The most important thing to do when educating people is to treat them with respect. Understand that this is a difficult topic for some people to discuss. If the person you are trying to educate is open to a discussion about circumcision, simply present them with the facts. The facts will speak for themselves. If the person does not want to talk about it, respect their wishes and let them know that you are available should they have questions later on.

You can help in many other ways, too. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Become a MUSICian! Allow us to post your name and a personal statement supporting genital integrity on this site and other MUSIC materials.

  • Place a link from your official web site to this or any other organization who supports genital integrity for all humans.

  • Provide a list of URL's for MUSIC and other genital integrity organizations on your cd liner notes and fan club newsletters.

  • Have circumcision information available for your fans at your concerts and other public appearances.

  • Make a statement about the importance of genital integrity during a concert or television, radio, magazine and newspaper interviews.

  • Make a contribution to NOCIRC-PA for MUSIC or another 501(c)3 non-profit genital integrity organization.

  • Donate an item for an on-line auction. (This event is not yet scheduled. Please let us know if you are interested in participating and what items you can donate.)
